What does it mean today, in a time when anyone can be a filmmaker, to work professionally in the art medium of film? It means taking both aesthetic and contextual risks in the face of a sophisticated audience with a high audiovisual sensibility, and thereby constantly extending the conventions of filmic storytelling.

The ifs offers you the opportunity to explore your storytelling and artistic adventure. Whether in one of our three study programs – Film Studies Program (with a specialization in Screenwriting, Film Directing and Creative Producing) and Director of Photography Program and Digital Film Arts (with a specialization in Edting Picture & Sound and Visual Arts) – or in the Postgraduate Program MA Screenwriting or in one of our 10 further education programs, at the ifs you meet people who will support you in the development and refinement of your personal abilities and your creative skills. Theoretical and practical tools are taught in small groups and our project supervision is intensive and personal. Our concept is further defined by a close collaboration between the study and further education programs on specific projects as well as the connection to other socially relevant disciplines. Strengthening your artistic personality is highly important to us.
