A collaboration between the ifs internationale filmschule köln in Cologne, Germany, the School of Media, Music and Performance at the University of Salford, UK, and the School of Art and Media at Tampere University of Applied Sciences, Finland.
This program offers writers an environment in which to develop scripts for an international market that are not only innovative, but also commercially viable. The program’s key objective is to strengthen the economic and creative viability of European writers, and offers access to an exclusive European network while encouraging intensive dialogue between students.
The MA in Screenwriting is the only postgraduate screenwriting program with an international focus involving a German film school.
The program starts in Tampere in September 2012 and continues in Salford in the second semester, followed by an intensive writing period in the students’ home countries. Students are also offered the option of attending a two-week workshop in Cologne in the third semester with internationally renowned guest lecturers.
Small groups of up to eight students will work closely with noted scholars, industry professionals and faculty from all participating countries. During the program, students will be expected to write two 90-minute pieces of which one will be their master thesis.
The program will be taught entirely in English.
