GEECT Conference “Embracing Diversity in European Film Schools” – Day 1: A successful first conference day took place at the ifs on Thursday, 7 March. In the morning the participants of the conference were welcomed by ifs managing director Simone Stewens, Petra Müller (managing director of the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW) and Bart Römer (director of the Nederlandse Filmacademie in Amsterdam). Afterwards the journalist and migration researcher Dr. Mark Terkessidis held a lecture under the title “The Curriculum Ahead. Migration, Mobility and a Plan for Multiplicity”, the journalist and migration researcher Dr. Mark Terkessidis gave a keynote speech on the question of what the future of film schools should look like with regard to diversity.
In the afternoon, the participants could attend various workshops on “Language and Body Language”, “Canon Expanded”, “Power and Politics” and “Representation”.
