On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the ifs presents a #ifsfilmderwoche online every Tuesday.
The series kicks off with »Amor Fati« from the first year of the bachelor’s programme film. Shot in Cologne and Montenegro in 2005, the ifs graduation film by Dennis Todorovic (director and screenplay) and Melanie Andernach (production and screenplay) has won several awards.

In the drama about the power of fate, Nenad loses his wife Sanja on their wedding night in a car accident caused by the bride’s father. At the funeral in Montenegro, Nenad is horrified to discover that there is no talk of guilt, only of fate – this finally challenges Nenad.

Producer Melanie Andernach:
Melanie Andernach studied Creative Producing in the first year at the ifs, after completing her doctorate in film and copyright law in Munich and Paris. Since graduating from the ifs in 2005, she has worked as a freelance writer, director and producer and founded the film production company MADE IN GERMANY in Cologne together with Knut Losen. Many of her productions and co-productions have won awards, most recently the documentary »DARK EDEN«, which she co-produced, won a Grimme Award. Melanie Andernach has recently become a part-time substitute professor for television dramaturgy/creative television production at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.

Director Dennis Todorovic:
Dennis Todorovic studied Directing in the first year of the BA Film at the ifs. Since then he has worked as a director, author and lecturer for film acting in Cologne. His cinema debut »Sascha« celebrated its German premiere at the Hofer Filmtage in 2010 and received several international awards. For the sci-fi thriller »Die Laika-Kapsel” (current title: »Life on Laika«) he received a Wim Wenders scholarship from the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW together with co-writer and ifs graduate Christoph Mathieu. With »Sister White« he brought his second feature film to the big screen in 2016. Since 2019, Dennis Todorovic has been a professor for film and television with a focus on directing at Macromedia University.
