After earning her master's degree in literary studies and art history, Helga Binder began working in the film industry at the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW in 1993. In 2000, she moved to Tatfilm Produktionsgesellschaft, where she worked as a producer on projects ranging from debut films to international co-productions. Her projects include: "Das Vaterspiel", "Happy ever afters", "Monkeys in winter", "Within the Whirlwind". After ten years in production, she works as an artistic-scientific assistant for production and distribution in the field of film at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. In addition, she works as a consultant for production companies and as an expert for the MEDIA program of the European Union and gives seminars on film production and financing. Since April 2014 she has been working at the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW as deputy head of funding with a focus on international co-productions.
