Filmmaking has become the most important part of my life. That wasn't always the case. Because although artistic work has always accompanied me, for a long time I couldn't imagine becoming a professional cameraman. As a child, I lived with my grandparents in Sri Lanka. My grandfather was my greatest role model. His view of nature and enthusiasm for art still inspire me today. I learned early to observe nature and the behavior of people and animals analytically. My grandpa told me incredibly interesting stories that stimulated my imagination, we drew pictures together and kneaded figures out of clay. Later, I realized more and more how important all this has been for my work as a filmmaker. The skills I acquired then enable me as a cinematographer to make points of view visible to others through my work.
