Detailed CV

From the position of a writer, I aim to create structures that facilitate the development and spread of storytelling practices on the frontier of technology. I’ve studied traditional and non-traditional forms, both of which are flexible enough to accommodate innovative storytelling, but I’ve come to cling to the network potential that creators have over the Internet. I believe that what we accept as ‘natural’ categories, such as ownership, authorship, and the creator vs. consumer hierarchy, inhibit the recognition that anyone can become a creator and that enthusiastic consumption of media is its own kind of ownership.
I would like to adapt my style of storytelling so that it honours the fractured, yet robust cultural connections made possible by networks. I want to use voluntary abandonment of the restrictive copyright regime to assign value to cultural works that otherwise exist in a legal grey area.
