Challenger Deep

"Challenger Deep" tells the story of a man obsessed with finishing his father's dream, even if it means going to the lowest point in the world.

Over 4,000 people have reached the top of Mount Everest. 220 have visited the International Space Station. Twelve have stood on the surface of the moon. Only six people have reached the deepest point of the ocean: Challenger Deep.

After his father's fatally ended attempt to reach this deepest point of the ocean 31 years ago, his son Ben plans to complete his dream. Although his plan arouses old fears in his mother, she accompanies her only son on his expedition. Also on board the research vessel is Ben's eleven-year-old daughter Stevie, who cannot understand why her father voluntarily puts himself in mortal danger.

A short time later, the long dive into the darkness begins, at the end of which Ben finally reaches his destination: Challenger Deep. The moment of triumph and relief lasts only briefly. When Ben wants to start the ascent, the deep-sea ship becomes maneuverless due to a technical defect. While a massive storm is brewing on the surface, Ben is stuck 11,000 meters below the water level, and his chances of survival are dwindling with every passing minute.
