Felipe R. Martinez
Masterstudiengang Digital Narratives
After his graduation in History and Asian Studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, Felipe studied Cinema at the International Film School of Cuba. Later he worked as a scriptwriter in México City and in 2015 he moved to Tokyo, where he worked as a director for music and art related documentaries and video art. He also periodically produces cultural exchange events between Japanese and Chilean artists. The broadness of his experiences has allowed Felipe to develop a comprehensive connection between cinema, music, dance and contemporary art. Within his work, Digital Media has also become a way for creation and exploration around topics such as fiction, emotional memory and oblivion as well as a perspective for the study of communication through the analysis of the dialogue between diverse cultural codes using the means of art and digital resources. His works have been shown at film festivals and art galleries in Asia, Europe & South-America. He participated at the Locarno Filmmakers Academy and the Kyoto Filmmakers Lab. He was Artist in Residence at the Shangyuan Modern Art Museum of Beijing and invited artists to the Sapporo International Art Festival 2017. He is currently editing his full-length documentary “A Jazz Punk Story” and pursuing the Master’s program »Digital Narratives« at the ifs internationale filmschule köln since October 2018.
