ifs graduation script »PATTERN OF LIFE« nominated in the category Screenplay
Two projects of the ifs internationale filmschule köln are nominated at this year’s FIRST STEPS Awards: The ifs graduation film »BULLDOG« by André Szardenings (Director/Screenplay/DoP) und Antonia-Marleen Klein (Editing), produced by Lea Neu and Katharina Kolleczek, competes in the category Full-length Feature Film for the 20,000 euro award. The screenplay for the full-length feature film »PATTERN OF LIFE« is Dario Haramustek’s graduation project and is running for the FIRST STEPS Screenplay Award, which is worth 7,000 euros. The nomination already includes a prize money of 1,000 euros.
In the coming-of-age drama »BULLDOG«, the irrational, symbiotic relationship of 21-year-old Bruno (Julius Nitschkoff) with his young Toni (Lana Cooper) is turned upside down when her new girlfriend Hannah (Karin Haczewski) decides to move into their bungalow in Spain. Removed from their shared bed, Bruno from now on has to cope with the fact he is not the sole center of his mum’s attention anymore. But the forced cutting of the cord also provides Bruno with a previously unknown freedom – and the first independent decision of his life. The film was made in co-production with the Bayerischer Rundfunk and was funded by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.
In the screenplay »PATTERN OF LIFE«, Scott (45) works for the US Air Force at Ramstein Air Base Ramstein and evaluates live images from combat drones. When the victims of a planned strike in Yemen include a child, Scott starts to have doubts about a system that willingly accepts this mistake. His personal crisis increasingly isolates him not only within his military unit, but also from this wife and their children, whose lives are largely defined by Scott’s profession. The family’s life together threatens to break down.
The jury’s statement can be read on the FIRST STEPS website.
