MA Digital Narratives
Cathal Kerins was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1992. He studied French Language & Literature and International Commerce at the University College Dublin. During his undergraduate degree, Cathal spent one academic year at the Toulouse Business School, where he participated in the Marketing Master’s program. Despite the business studies, Cathal was particularly interested in 19th Century French literature, postmodernism and discerning art’s new frontiers. However, as a student at UCD, Cathal won a university tax competition against Trinity College Dublin and, as such, was offered a 3.5 year training contract with KPMG Ireland in their Financial Services Taxation Department in Dublin’s IFSC. Cathal qualified as a Chartered Accountant, in 2020, with a specialization in tax.
Cathal is a native English-speaker but is fluent in French, and is of intermediate level in German and Irish. He is passionate about language learning and the effect words can have on human emotions. He has lived for a period of three months or more in the USA, UK, Germany, France and, of course, his native Ireland. He is also involved in volunteer work where he was the Arts & Culture Editor of Europa United, and is active with Europe Cares, which is an initiative which sources donations and supplies to be provided to refugees. His experiences have led him to appreciate the importance of narratives, whether that be media, history, spirituality, art or self-understanding. He is especially interested in new opportunities and developments for art and, as such, began the ifs Köln’s Master’s program in »Digital Narratives« in 2020.
