Vita
At the time of his architecture studies, Daniel Chour lived out his passion for film on the side as a projectionist in an independent cinema in his hometown of Aarau, Switzerland. This euphoria paved his way into the film industry. He gained his first practical experience at the European Film College (EFC) in Denmark in 2001/02. This was followed in 2003/04 by further studies in production design at the International Film School Cologne (ifs).
Projects such as DAS PARFÜM or THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL followed, in which Daniel Chour was able to express his urge for bizarre worlds as a set designer. Today he is mainly responsible as Art Director or Supervising Art Director for the design and creative realisation of sophisticated studio buildings and film landscapes.
Such as the METROPOLITAN BACKLOT, an impressive city backdrop at Studio Babelsberg, which was built for the TV series BABYLON BERLIN, among others.
In 2021, as part of the Art Department, he was awarded the "Excellence in Production Design Award" by the Art Directors Guild for the mini-series QUEEN'S GAMBIT. Daniel Chour is a member of the Association of Professional Groups for Production Design and Costume Design (VSK).
