Production designers create cinematic worlds – from inventing a never-before-seen future, to sensitively depicting personal interiors, to realistically recreating past eras. They enhance and expand the atmosphere of a script through narrative design.
In addition to teaching the diverse design and craft fundamentals of production design, the specialisation in “Production Design” of the Bachelor's Programme Film also provides students with an understanding of the visual language of the trade. The ability to communicate about the connections between design and dramaturgy is developed and sharpened.
For practice-oriented specialised education, students have access to workshops, a large pool of costumes, requisites and equipment, and the ifs stage studio.
Through top-class guest lecturers from the industry, internships with movies or TV feature films as well as visits of festival and equipment pools, production design students build up an industry network during their studies in order to be optimally prepared for their future profession.
Since the Bachelor's Programme Film is a German-language programme, please find all further information on the German-language page.
