MERLIN MAYER, grew up in Vienna, Austria, where he discovered his passion for film and storytelling at an early age. He holds a BA in film studies (University of Vienna) and a second degree in film production (University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna). During his studies, he worked on short film projects in various roles and completed an internship at Sky Germany’s scripted originals department in Unterföhring near Munich. There, he reviewed submitted concepts for fictional series and was involved in the selection process as part of the development team. After graduating, he worked in various production support roles before becoming a full-time producer at Red Monster Film in Vienna. In this role, he produced one cinema documentary and nine TV documentaries, including one that was nominated for an award. When he’s not writing, he’s probably studying Zen philosophy, losing at online chess, or pondering the Roman Empire. Studying at the ifs since 2025.
