Today marks the start of the 79th Cannes International Film Festival (12–23 May, 3026), and we are delighted that many film projects involving ifs are featured in the programme:

Prof. Sebastian Soukup is responsible for production design. Alumna Zoe Lee Saba Krappen served as set props assistant, and student Louis Loges worked as an additional dresser.
»Gentle Monster«, directed by Marie Kreutzer, will screen in competition on 15 May. Alumnus Myron Kritenko served as best boy lighting on the film.
The film »Vaterland oder Ein Bule Namens Yanto« by Berthold Wahjudi will also celebrate its world premiere on 19 May in the short film competition. Alumni Paul Nägl and student Dominik Salcher served as lighting assistants, while alumna Kim Hausner worked as a camera assistant.
»Die Matriarchin«, directed by Alison Kuhn, will be presented at the Marché du Film in Cannes. The film was edited by alumnus Christian Zipfel. As part of the Next Generation Short Tiger program, the short film “Fragil” by ifs graduates Laurenz Otto and Miri Klischat will also be featured at the Marché du Film. The film was edited by ifs alumnus Mika Kopischke
ifs alumna Fitore Muzaqi was selected for this year’s T-Port TalentBridge 2026 programme—a workshop and mentoring programme held as part of the festival—with her film »Geschmacklos, das Leben« (written and directed by her). ifs alumni Montell Taraschewski (DoP), Niklas Lipski (editor), and Beverly Stura-Cura (production assistant) were part of the team for the #fms-funded film. Congratulations to all ifs alumni and enjoy the festival!
