The ZDF television film ‘The Marianne Voss Case’ (director: U. Havemann), based on a screenplay by alumna Karin Kaçi, has been awarded the prestigious ABU Prize of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union in the TV Drama category in Istanbul. Congratulations!
In the ‘Kids: Live Action’ category of the International Emmy Awards, the Kika series ‘Gong! My Spectacular Life’ about an autistic girl was nominated. Alumni Mikko Beste (VFX Supervisor), Christopher Albrodt (Production Manager), Julius Nerlich (Production Assistant), Antonia Uhl and Pauline Schläger (Set Recording Supervisors), Lutz Rödig (Script Supervisor) and Ivan Kolesov (1st Film Sound Assistant) all played their part. The award ceremony will take place on 25 November in New York. We are keeping our fingers crossed!
The documentary ‘The Return of the Projectionist’ (D: O. Aghazadeh), which was produced by alumnus Lino Rettinger, among others, and edited by Nicole Schmeier, has just been released in cinemas.
The documentary ‘Die Bekenntnisse des Hochstaplers Thomas Mann’ (D: A. Schäfer) opens in cinemas on 7 November. Alumna Svenja Matthes is responsible for the production design.
On 14 November, ‘Des Teufels Bad’ (D: S. Fiala, V. Franz) opens in cinemas, with alumni Antonia Schäfer (camera operator, lighting assistant) and Lukas Sydney Loßdörfer (assistant editor).
September 5’ (director: T. Fehlbaum) will be released in the USA on 27 November. ifs-Prof. Rolf Mütze (vfx executive producer) and alumnus Matthias Backmann (compositing artist) were part of the crew. The film will be released in German cinemas on 09.01.2025.
‘Die Heinzels - Neue Mützen, Neue Mission’ won the Audience Award at the Zurich Film Festival. ifs-Prof. Sophia Zauner (Rigging, DAYWALKER Studios) and alumni Julien Hecker (Rigging) and Michael Dämmig (Modelling/Surfacing) worked on the animated film. It will be released in German cinemas on 24 December.
Alumna Zoe Magdalena not only plays the lead role in the series ‘Hungry’ (directed by E. Gehring), which will be available in the ZDF media library from 28 November, but is also responsible for the scripts as head writer. The producer is alumnus Robert Schaefer, while alumnus Jan von Rimscha was responsible for editing. The TV broadcast is on 03 December on ZDFneo.
The ZDF comedy series ‘Rembetis - Die Geisterjäger’ (directed by S. Averkamp) is being filmed until mid-November. Alumni Jenny Lorenz (producer), Christopher Albrodt (production manager), Julius Nerlich (first production manager) and Utta Hagen (production designer) are part of the team.
Alumna Sandra Schröder can look forward to funding from the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW for her project ‘Oskar Dusche Meyer’ (screenplay, director). She is also a jury member at the up-and-coming screenplay festival and, like alumna Yana Höhnerbach, is one of the new members of the German Film Academy.
Funding from the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW also goes to the production company Color of May by alumni Eva Blondiau and Elmar Imanov for the feature film ‘Life of Simon Jashi’ (D. Mamuliya).
The new industry podcast ‘Writer's Statement’ by alumna Fitore Muzaqi and Stefanie Ren is now available on all platforms. Alumna Beverly Stura-Cura is involved as production assistant.
