Rafael is on his way home from a business trip. Before boarding the plane, he buys a gift for his son Luis, whose seventh birthday is coming up.

And he spends a night with Lucia, whom he sometimes visits. The closer he gets to his home, the stranger his mood becomes. When he arrives at his front door in a cab, he doesn't get out - instead, he spends the night in his office. The next morning, he meets his friend and boss Konrad, who quickly realizes that something is wrong with Rafael. He knows the reason, but avoids talking about it.
It is not until the following night that Rafael returns home and confronts his fate.
