Jürgen Jürges is one of Germany's most distinguished DoPs. His oeuvre comprises more than 100 films. These include many classics of film history such as the feature films "Angst essen Seele auf", "Satansbraten" and "Christiane F. - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo", as well as international film productions such as "Funny Games" and the series "DAU".
His camera work has been honored with numerous awards, including the German Camera Award, the Adolf Grimme Award and the Silver Bear at the 70th Berlinale in the category "Outstanding Artistic Achievement" for his camera work in Chrzhanovsky's "DAU. Natasha".
In 2022, Jürgen Jürges received the German Film Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award at the German Film Awards.
