MAR B. ALVES (*1989), originally from Brazil, completed his Master’s in Serial Storytelling at the ifs international film school in Cologne and specializes in writing serialized content, in German, English, and Portuguese. Mar has developed movies and series proposals/scripts for German production companies like Schiwago Film, Bavaria Fiction, UFA Fiction, G5 Fiction, U5 Filmproduktion, and assisted multi-award winning Producer Prof. Uwe Kersken as a junior producer for G5 fiction (ZDF Enterprises). He furthermore has worked as a staff writer (storyliner & story editor) on the long running German daily soaps “Berlin – Tag & Nacht”, and “Alles was zählt” (RTL). Mar’s screenplays have received recognition in several screenwriting competitions, e.g. Austin Film Festival, ScreenCraft Scifi & Fantasy Screenplay Contest, The Golden Script Competition, Table Read My Screenplay. His series “Lauf, wenn du kannst” has been selected for 2020’s First Movie Plus program, a launch pad for young writers and producers created by the Bavarian Film Centre in Munich. Before focusing on screenwriting, Mar wrote and directed a socio-critical theater play named “Shitty Shitty Plem Plem”, which was performed at the Pasinger Fabrik in Munich and is now being distributed by Zuckerhut Theaterverlag. During his Bachelor’s in Theatre Studies, Mar made several (particularly experimental) short films. “Jump Lola, jump!” and “Substage” were nominated for the AABER Award 2012 – a cultural award for young artists in Bavaria. He moreover worked in the film industry as Sound Editor in films such as “Wir waren Könige” (Best Narrative Feature – Austin Film Festival 2014, MFG Star – Baden Baden TV Film Festival 2014) and “Der Bunker” (Best Picture – Fantastic Fest 2015, Best Film – Palmares Mauvais Genre Festival 2015). “Husk”, the Scifi mini-series he developed with his co-writers Dominik Hochwald and Christoph Mathieu for U5 Filmproduktion, is currently under production at ZDF.
