Sabine Schaaf, born in Koblenz in 1968, lives in Berlin and works as a set decorator. After studying architecture and gaining a few years of professional experience, she switched to film set design in 1998 with a second degree from the International Film School in Cologne and worked on various German and international TV and cinema productions and commercials.
These productions included BABYLON BERLIN, THE QUEENS GAMBIT and HUNGERGAMES.
With THE QUEENS GAMBIT she won the 2021 Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Production Design, the " Excellence in Production Design Award" from the Art Directors Guild and the Set Decorators Society of America Award.
Sabine Schaaf is a member of the Association of Props and Set Decoration (VdRSD) and Pro Quote Film, which advocates for gender equality in the film and television industry.
