Vita
Simon Ruschmeyer is a writer and director, powered by AI. His focus is on stories at the intersection of culture and technology. Since completing his studies in media culture at the University of Siegen, spending a semester abroad at the Film & Television Institute India, and earning a master’s degree in serial storytelling at the ifs Internationale Filmschule Köln, he has combined dramaturgical thinking with a deep understanding of digital visual cultures and new modes of production. In recent years, Ruschmeyer has distinguished himself particularly as a filmmaker with strong AI expertise, bringing this expertise to film and television productions: as an AI artist on the arte documentary “Telegram – The Dark Empire of Pavel Durov,” for the ARD production “Zugepflastert – How Can We Save Our Cities from Collapsing Under the Heat?” and as co-writer, director, and AI supervisor of the 90-minute documentary “Can AI Save Democracy?” for ProSieben. In addition to his work for broadcasters and production companies, Ruschmeyer gives keynotes and workshops on AI-assisted filmmaking, including at industry events such as the Berlinale, re:publica, and Seriencamp. His strength lies not only in his technical mastery of AI, but also in his ability to apply it from the perspective of a writer and director: as a narrative tool for visually developing material and for discovering new visual languages.
