News from ifs alumni and professors
The series ‘Liebes Kind’ was honoured at the 52nd International Emmy Awards (symbolic photo: International Emmy Award to ‘Liebes Kind’) in the ‘Television Film/Miniseries’ category. We are delighted that ifs alumni and students were also involved in this successful production: Renata Salazar Ivancan (editor), Genoveva Kylburg (costume designer) and Louisa Schirner (set runner).
The German Short Film Award in the category ‘Feature film up to 10 minutes’ went to ‘Melodies of Barking Dogs’ (director: D. Huss). Ifs alumna Kim Hausner was responsible for the camera.
For the 12th time, the German Academy for Television, DAfF for short, will award the DAfFNE, the independent industry award for outstanding individual achievements in German television, on 21 February 2025. The ifs alumni Timo Stampa and Matthias Backmann (together with Pascal Bußmann and Johanna Bischopink) are nominated in the ‘VFX & Animation’ category for ‘Kleo Season 2’.
The series ‘Dunking Girls’ (dir: E. Niemeier, B. Hauke) is available in the ARD media library. ifs professor Ruth Olshan is responsible for the idea and the first concept paper.
From 13 December, ‘Hallo Spencer - Der Film’ (directed by T. Schierhorn), for which ifs professor and DoP Jutta Pohlmann was responsible for the camera, will be available in the ZDF media library. It will be broadcast on ZDF on 27.12.
‘39 Derecede Aşk (Love in 39 Degrees; dir: S. Tunc)’ will be shown on Prime Video on 6 December. ifs alumna C. Aslı Filiz was one of the producers.
On 13 December at 8.15 pm, arte will premiere the feature film ‘Familie is nich’ (directed by N. Neul), for which ifs alumnus Leonhard Jagels worked as a set assistant.
On 17 December, the four-part documentary series ‘WTF is Jule?’ will be shown on ZDF and is already available in the media library. (director: L. Leick). ifs alumna Bine Jankowski was one of three cameramen in the team and was responsible for colour grading, ifs alumnus Leonard Grobien was in front of the camera, as co-author in the writer's room and as technical consultant.
‘Die Heinzels - Neue Mützen, Neue Mission’ opens in cinemas on 24 December. ifs professor Sophia Zauner (Rigging, DAYWALKER Studios) and alumni Julien Hecker (Rigging) and Michael Dämmig (Modelling/Surfacing) worked on the animated film.
On 25 December, ‘Sechs auf einen Streich - Das Märchen von der silbernen Brücke’ (directed by C. Kaya; already available in the ARD media library from 18 December) will be shown on TV channel Erste. The film was edited by ifs alumna Maren Unterburger.
The documentary ‘Mein Name ist Otto’ about Otto Waalkes will be available on Prime Video from 30 December. The film was directed by ifs alumna Christine Uschy Wernke.
On 02.01.2025, the feature film ‘Feste & Freunde - Ein Hoch auf uns!’ (Director: D. Dietl). The team included ifs alumni Cordula Jedamski (production designer), Maren Buchholz (assistant set decorator), Carsten Wesche-Böttcher and Katia Kandziora (set dresser).
The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW is supporting socio-political cinema from NRW, including two projects by ifs graduates. Director and ifs alumnus Felix Hassenfratz (director, screenplay) will receive a grant of 400,000 euros for his feature film ‘Frieda - Kalter Krieg’. ifs graduate Lisa Fechner can look forward to screenplay funding; her book ‘Fräulein Dezember und die Mondscheinbande’ will receive EUR 20,000.
