Wim Wenders scholarship for project by ifs Alumna Fitore Muzaqi

The project » Amica« receives a grant of €20,000.

Congratulations! For the implementation of her project »Amica« as a short-form miniseries, Fitore Muzaqi, a graduate of the MA Serial Storytelling program at ifs, has been awarded a Wim Wenders scholarship worth €20,000.

The coming-of-age drama is about 14-year-old Nora, who develops a friendship with the chatbot from the AMICA app, until she soon loses touch with reality and, motivated by the chatbot, commits increasingly extreme acts. With her miniseries, Fitore Muzaqi wants to spark a critical discussion about the effects of AI on mental health, social isolation, and interpersonal relationships among young people.

After working as an author, director, and creative producer, she completed a master's degree in MA Serial Storytelling at the ifs. In her work for series and film projects, she deals with cultural differences, feminist issues, and social inequality from a migrant perspective. In other words, many topics that revolve around criticism of capitalism and the distribution of resources. In her podcast Writer's Statement, she hosts discussions about working in the film industry with the aim of creating transparency and participation. With the documentary series Meine Narbe (My Scar), she and her team at WDR COSMO won the CIVIS Media Prize 2022. Her short film “Turtle & Albion” will be touring festivals starting in 2025.

For the twelfth time, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the Wim Wenders Foundation have awarded the Wim Wenders Scholarship. The prestigious scholarship, which is endowed with a total of €100,000 annually, enables filmmakers to independently develop their innovative project ideas. The jury selected six projects from a total of 56 submissions.
