Sven Hagl created a 3D virtual stage character for his master's project entitled »Creation of an abstract 3D character and prototyping of a holographic live mocap stage projection«.
3D animation meets contemporary concert culture: in his master's thesis, student Sven Hagl embarked on a research trip into the terrain of virtual stage characters with singer-songwriter Sophia Rexrodt Meleiro. This resulted in the design, model and animation of Sophia's virtual alter ego. But of course the avatar also needed a functioning holographic stage onto which it could be projected with the help of the Pepper Ghost trick. A fleeting and echoing presence.
