Mandelbaum family has four daughters, two parents and exactly six problems

Lilli (17) is an annoyed teenager and a fanatical fan of rapper Robert Brown. Emma (21) is not only on the verge of the Bachelor, but also on the verge of burnout. Louisa (23), a flirt addict, accepts responsibility at most for her tequila. Johanna (27) is running for mayor, but her family is not even a PR concept for her. Frank (54), an anxiety-ridden family man, has only one solution: his therapist. And Barbara (49), the main character of the story, an unhappy lamp saleswoman, always takes a back seat, but really just wants to sing and eat men's cream.

Nothing holds this family together anymore - except their last name. But that changes when Barbara turns 50 and is given a restaurant lease by her mother. Single-handedly, Barbara puts the entire family's fortune into the business. Hello, midlife crisis! And everyone else is forced to help out so that the project doesn't run into the ground.

The great ignorance and excessive demands of opening a restaurant and running it on a daily basis lead to exploding water pipes, dishes like curry tiramisu, one-night stands with the delivery man and beef with public enemy number one: the health department. Then one of the daughters' ex-boyfriends becomes the chef, and they have to throw a huge birthday party for number-one celebrity Harry Harling! The Mandelbaums face an enormous task - but are also beginning to feel again what it feels like to be not just six problems, but a family.
