Based on the BookTok favourite, this adaptation of the novel tells a heartbreaking story about emancipation, identity and love that transcends borders.
Lilly is abducted by an angel, her supposed half-brother Nick, into a magical parallel world. As the prophesied heir to the throne, she is supposed to unite the ‘Otherworld’, which is inhabited by various beings, and rebalance the vital source of magic. A seemingly impossible task for an ordinary person. But when it becomes clear that the Otherworld is not only threatened by unscrupulous demons, but that the angels rule as a self-appointed elite through oppression, marginalisation and exploitation, the fight against these repressive structures becomes Lilly's personal mission.
Contrary to all expectations, she trains to fight on the front line and demands to be actively involved in the political affairs of the Otherworld. The fact that Lilly also falls in love with the mysterious King of the Assassins makes her endeavours all the more complicated. In a constant dilemma between a sense of duty and personal desires, Lilly must decide who she wants to be and accept everything that makes her who she is in order to realise the full potential of her powers.
