Kiki grows up in a toxic home and escapes into her fantasy world and her need for control.
Every way out seems blocked - until her parents kick her out. Kiki ends up in a catchment centre for outcasts, a tiny house settlement on the outskirts of the city, and is overwhelmed by the prospect of living independently. The bills are piling up, there's not enough money to go around, she can't even afford the oat milk for her beloved matcha latte.
She finds support from her cheerful neighbour Annemarie, who takes Kiki under her wing and persuades her to do crazy things. The young woman learns repartee from the scatterbrained Hugo - in a pub where she is forced to work. But Kiki's negative thoughts keep coming back. Especially when she wants to apply for her dream job. Sybille is an expert at banishing negative spirits. She has to deal with the demons of the past herself and now knows better how to deal with them.
Even though there are always conflicts in the new-found community, Kiki develops into a self-confident woman. After her father has a stroke, she meets her parents again for the first time. She is faced with the final decision: Should she go to hospital or break with her old family for good?
