I used to want to make pottery and earn my money by having people drink tea from my cups. It's similar with filmmaking. I shape stories in which I can show the good, because it's what I want to give the audience. Feeding the soul with what it feeds on. My cinema should be smart, entertaining, it should show worlds that are new, and awaken feelings, even unhappy ones. But in the end, I want viewers to walk out with a hope that feels big. So big that they, and all of us, find the strength to go on and change the world together for the better. I myself have experienced that film can do that, and I am therefore convinced that my present and my future are in it.
