Vita

Fabian Gasmia studied film production at the Babelsberg Film University and subsequently graduated from the Ludwigsburg-Paris studio. His short and feature-length films have screened at over 1000 international festivals and won more than 300 awards, including at the Berlinale, Cannes, Sundance, Karlovy Vary, Venice and in museums such as the MoMA New York. Fabian Gasmia has been managing director of the production company Zentropa Berlin since 2015. In 2018, he founded the production company Seven Elephants together with the directors Julia von Heinz, David Wnendt and Erik Schmitt. Their first film together, Julia von Heinz' German-French co-production AND TOMORROW THE WHOLE WORLD, premiered in competition at the Venice International Film Festival in 2020 and was nominated for the Lola for Best Feature Film in 2021. The film that followed, David Wnendt's "SONNE UND BETON", won major awards and sold over 1.2 million tickets in Germany after its premiere at the Berlinale. Gasmia is not only a member of the German and European Film Academies, but has also held the office of President of the Franco-German Film Academy since 2023.
