Vita

Born in Mariánské Lázne (Marienbad) in Czechoslovakia in 1963, she has lived in Germany since 1969. During her training she gained experience as a production manager in the theatre and worked with Robert Wilson, David Byrne, Arie Singer and Anatoli Vassilev, among others. In 1990/91 she founded the film festival Salzburger FilmSzene and initiated programmes for Alexander Kluge's "dctp" with Les Blank, Thomas Brasch, David Byrne, Brothers Quay
and Richard Leacock. From 1992 onwards she worked in Prague for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. In the same year, she and others founded the film foundation Czech Film Promotion to market Czech film. Jana Cisar has lived and worked in Berlin since 1995. In 2000 she graduated from EAVE, the European Training and Networking Programme for Producers in the Audiovisual Sector. She has been working independently since 2001.
