Laurens Orij is a senior colourist and co-founder at Crabsalad Amsterdam. His commercials work is based in Amsterdam, while his feature film work is based in Paris. He lectures on colour science, and loves to drive scientific research with artistic problems to create new possibilities for the cinematographers with whom he collaborates. His film credits include Halina Reijn's “Instinct” (Locarno Piazza Grande, TIFF Contemporary World Cinema), Mees Peijnenburg's “Paradise Drifters” (Berlin, Best Cinematography Golden Calf Nominee), Alejandro Landes' “MONOS” (Sundance World Cinema Special Jury Award winner), the Oscar-nominated and Cannes Grand Prix winner “Close” (2023) by Lukas Dhont and “All We Imagine as Light” (Cannes Grand Prize Winner 2024) by Payal Kapadia.
