Vita

Laurien Michiels was born and raised in Sint-Truiden (Belgium).  She obtained her first MA at Ghent University in Literature and Linguistics, specialised in English and Scandinavian studies. During her studies in Ghent she participated in the Erasmus+ programme and travelled to Norway to study at the University of Bergen (UiB). At the UiB she enrolled in Digital Humanities courses, which led her to grow incredibly fond of this particular field. She has coded an adaptation of a poetry generator, as well as written and analysed interactive fiction at this institution.

Over the course of her studies, Laurien has been active as a freelance visual artist with a prominent focus on photography. She has always been passionate about language learning and is currently fluent in 6 languages (still counting ;-) ). In her free time she enjoys designing and programming social media filters. With the enrollment at the MA Digital Narratives, Laurien aspires to further explore interactive storytelling as well as UX/UI coding.
