Silke Putz studied theatre painting at the Bühnen der Stadt Bonn (1991-94) and animated film/2D animation at the International Film School (ifs) in Cologne (2001-02). Since 1995 she has worked as a freelance artist and scenery painter with renowned directors such as Michelle MacLaren, Lars von Trier, Tom Tykwer, Caroline Link, Fatih Akin and set designers such as Allan Starski, Andy Nicholson and Uli Hanisch.
Silke Putz has been a lecturer for surfaces and patina at the ifs International Film School Cologne, Dresden University of Fine Arts (HfBK) and RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden/Rüsselsheim, among others, since 2015.
Parallel to her film projects, Silke Putz studied art, philosophy, sociology and education at the Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences and completed her studies with the academic titles: Master of Arts Pedagogy (Adult Education 2022), Bachelor of Arts Ph.A.S.E. (Philosophy, Art, Society 2021) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (Fine Arts/ Painting, Photography 2017).

The film "Inside" celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale this year with its leading actor Willem Dafoe. "The Path" was awarded the German Film Prize in the category Best Children's Film in 2022.
