Stephan Arapovic

Stephan Arapovic studied journalism and began his career as a producer at Story House Productions, working on educational and documentary television programs, including Galileo and Terra X. He then spent nearly ten years working as a freelance writer and director for ZDF, ProSieben, National Geographic, and Discovery, filming around the world—including in the U.S., India, China, and Australia. Since 2022, he has been an executive producer at the Cologne-based production company btf, where he has built up the documentary division. His most recent works include the Netflix production »Cyberbunker: Darknet in Germany« as well as the ZDFsportstudio documentary series »FC Hollywood« and »Mission Sommermärchen«. His focus is on documentary films and series at the intersection of journalism, pop culture, sports, and entertainment. As a lecturer, he brings together both perspectives—that of the filmmaker and that of the producer who develops, finances, and sells content to broadcasters and platforms.
