Project by ifs alumna Jimena Aguilar is nominated for the prestigious journalism award »Premio Gabo«

Congratulations!

The project »Ciudad Perdida: el funeral de monseñor Romero« by ifs alumna (MA Digital Narratives) and ifs staff member Jimena Aguilar was nominated for the prestigious journalism award »Premio Gabo« of the Fundación Gabo for the category »Audio« and thus belongs to the 50 best journalistic works from Iberoamerica. A total of 1,980 works were submitted, which were reviewed by 62 journalists.

The audio project was developed from Jimena's final project and her master's thesis at the ifs. Jimena was responsible for the creative direction and scripts.

»Ciudad Perdida: el funeral de monseñor Romero« is a locative audio walk that tells the stories of survivors of the massacre that happened during the funeral of archbishop Óscar Romero on March 30th, 1980. The stories can be heard while walking in the space they took place as an audio walk or digitally as a podcast.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for the award ceremony, which will take place during the 10th Festival Gabo in Bogotá, Colombia (October 21-23).
