In the ZERO project, the topic of sustainability was on the agenda for students in the Set Design department: Through the summer, they conceived and executed designs with a focus on sustainability and resource conservation – while blazing their own new trails. On July 18, the »ZERO – Creatures« were presented in an exhibition.

The project kicked off with an excursion to the legendary Odonien in Cologne, an open-air studio where artists work creatively with scrap metal and other recycled materials. There, the students experimented with artistic and conceptual drawing and developed their own visual ideas. 
Further inspiration came from a visit to the immersive exhibition SAVELAND on the global state of our land areas at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn with Prof. Sebastian Soukup and Cologne-based artist Valeria Fahrenkrog.
Afterward, during a “material picnic,” the students presented materials they had found, which served as initial ideas for developing their own ZERO concept.
