Sophia Zauner is new professor at the ifs

As of this week, 3D animator Sophia Zauner is the new professor at ifs internationale filmschule köln – for the newly created professorship »3D Animation for Film and Non-linear Media«.

Sophia Zauner will teach in the master’s program »3D Animation for Film & Games« as well as in the specialization VFX & Animation of the bachelor’s program Film.
She has already been a lecturer in both courses since 2018.

Sophia Zauner studied »Digital Television« at the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg. After her diploma, she worked since 2006 first as an animator and later as a Character Technical Director, Pipeline Technical Director and Computer Graphics Supervisor. Her filmography includes the projects »Die Häschenschule 2 – Der große Eierklau«, »Trip To The Moon«, »Latte Igel und der magische Wasserstein«, »Duel«, »Mullewapp – Eine schöne Schweinerei«, »Planet Germany«, »Dawn of the Oceans« or »Tikis Band«.

»Every 3D animation project is both art and technology. Whenever we skillfully use technology to realize our artistic visions, something new, something innovative can emerge. I want to help students combine artistic thinking with technological know-how so that they can transform their visual concepts, ideas and stories into moving and animated images,« says Sophia Zauner about her appointment at the ifs.

The MA 3D Animation for Film & Games is a part-time cooperative degree program offered by the Cologne Game Lab at TH Köln and ifs. In this project-oriented, artistic-scientific continuing education program, students deal with the creative, technological and dramaturgical aspects of 3D animation across all media. The ifs courses are offered in cooperation with the TH Köln, and the professors are appointed accordingly by the TH Köln.
