»Rocket Roaches« (formerly »Ein kleiner Schritt«) is the final project of VFX student Mick Mahler at the ifs. The short film is a combination of real filming and digital animation and is set in a dystopian world where humans only spend time in virtual space and ignore their real surroundings. The cockroach population has taken advantage of this lack of attention to develop magnificently amidst the humans, who seem to have fallen into slumber. They are now at the same technical level as humanity was in the 1960s, and an urgent desire to travel to the moon has arisen. While building the moon rocket, the crabby engineering team wakes up one of the VR sleepers. The cross-cultural encounter is not without consequences...
