What do you do when a loved one turns criminal, perhaps even violent? ‘Green Blood’ poses precisely this moral question in an intimate father-daughter relationship.
Tempers are running high in a small town in North Rhine-Westphalia because the upcoming vote in the town council will decide whether a motorway feeder road will be built and whether a large part of the town forest will have to make way for it. Steffen and his 18-year-old daughter Marla demonstrate peacefully with other town residents against the clearing, while the mayor stands firmly behind the construction project. When she suddenly disappears without a trace, the rumour mill in the small town begins to boil.
While the police investigates, Steffen gradually discovers that his daughter is more radical in her climate activism than he thought - with actions such as colour attacks and sit-in blockades. Eventually, he fears that she may also be involved in the kidnapping of the mayor. When Marla goes into hiding, a race against time begins.
How far will Marla go in her desperate fear of the future? Will she and the mayor be found in time before blood is spilt?
