»Rewind« is a production of Pandora Film - in co-production with Rommel Film, WDR and Arte and with the support of ifs. Directed by Johannes Sievert, ifs student Matthias Backmann was involved as VFX supervisor not only in post-production, but also directly on location on the set. The most important element - depicting the time travel by means of visual effects - also became the subject of his bachelor thesis.
When the flap of a butterfly's wings leads to the discovery of time travel... In the feature film "Rewind", a butterfly was digitally brought to life by ifs graduate Jannika Edler to represent time travel using visual effects.
SYNOPSIS
While investigating a murder case, widowed police inspector Richard Lenders makes the irritating discovery that the murder victim seems to come from another time. Does an implanted chip enable time travel? More victims follow. What is the motive behind the murders? And what connections are there between the victims? Can Lenders use the chip to change his own life story?
