When the lilies bloom

Since the suicide of his girlfriend Margot, Falk Winter (35) has been living in a self-imposed exile.

Trapped in a labyrinth of guilt and grief, he spends his days smoking and drinking in painful self-destruction. When Margot's family asks him to take some of her ashes to a place meaningful to Margot, he is forced to pick up the pieces of the past months. And so he embarks on a chaotic, dusty odyssey through the vastness of Africa to a lily farm in Namibia, which becomes a bridge between the past and a new beginning for Falk.

He is accompanied by Lwazi, a stranger whose warm-hearted perseverance puts Falk's cynicism to the test. Together they encounter robberies, wild animals and the demons of the past. As Margot's extraordinary sea of lilies draws ever closer, the journey becomes a touchstone - not only for Falk's endurance, but also for whether he is ready to face life anew.

"When the Lilies Bloom" is a road movie drama about unpredictable paths to healing that combines the emotional themes of grief and self-destruction with surprisingly humorous moments.
