JAKOB GAUTASON, born in Germersheim, grew up in Reykjavík, Iceland (Icelandic father and German mother). Did A-levels with a focus on history and sociology. Worked during the pandemic and discovered an interest in film. Then completed a three-month art programme, making films there and practising writing, fire-breathing and sculpting, among other things. Back in Reykjavík, shot no-budget short films and got married.
Moved to Berlin, attended a year-long filmmaking programme at Catalyst University of Applied Sciences where she wrote and directed two short films and worked on many other student sets. Moved to Aachen and worked there as a funeral driver and postman. Studied at the ifs since 2023.
