When something goes wrong on a shoot, it's quick to say "We'll fix it in post." And that's where I come in - "We'll fix it in post." As editors, we are the third stage in the production of a film. Mistakes are fixed, but we also look for new ways to get the best out of the material. Often on projects I've worked on, it's happened that the film has taken on a completely different form because the material has told us a different story than we intended. To tease out a narrative out of whatever is interesting and dynamic - that's what excites me most about filmmaking.
