For Christmas or my birthday, I wanted nothing but Lego. The many spaceships and houses I built from these small but magical bricks could not have been more different. Today, 3D modelling even allows me to build models with even more limitless freedom, which are then used in the film. Because as the hardware advances, new possibilities for using 3D are constantly opening up. In my Lego days, I would never have dreamed of ever having the possibility to represent black holes, for example, one hundred per cent physically correct. In feature films, it is often a question of telling about a world that we will never experience in reality. But we 3D artists can help immensely to at least make this world visible in a believable way. As someone who has been building models since childhood, I feel perfectly at home in the field of 3D modelling.
