RAPHAELA SELGE born 1985 in Krefeld on the Lower Rhine | Daughter of classical musicians and grew up in an extended family of film and theater professionals | Wrote her own short stories and poems early on, made music, played in theater groups | 2005 Abitur | 2005-2011 Diploma studies in psychology at the WWU Münster | Worked in various psychosomatic as well as psychiatric institutions | Various longer stays abroad (especially in Latin America) | 2014-2015 Acting training in Berlin | 2015-2018 Bachelor studies in film / directing at the ifs | Her fascination with the human psyche and mental abysses is reflected in her films.

Making films is exhibitionism. This is the only way to create something that can touch the other person's heart and at the same time make him or her feel insecure. The exhibitionist desire and the fear of one's own exposure are in a permanent interplay with each other. This inner tension must be reflected in the film and later in the viewer in order to force a departure and confrontation. In my films and screenplays I process my own fears and pains, experiences and dreams. The stories almost scream their way out of my soul. As if life itself were the illness and the film the medication.
