I have a penchant for comedy and yet I feel a certain fascination for human abysses and evil in the world - probably because I find it difficult to accept and comprehend them. Approaching difficult subjects with humor can unleash great narrative power. There is a special charm for me in bizarre, black-humored material. And where does beauty and goodness have a truer effect than in a bleak environment? The claim to tell my stories primarily through a concise, imaginative visual language and to dispense with explanatory dialogues, in combination with multi-layered and visual humor, characterizes my style. I want to make films that could be understood without sound due to their pictorial storytelling and that are palpable to many viewers. I realize my vision with great perseverance and am my own biggest critic in the process.
