Lonely Horst (74) is carrying his heavy shopping bags home when a confused old man collapses before his eyes.

Horst rushes to help, but the man dies on the spot. The grieving relatives Elsa (42) and Volker (42) are nevertheless grateful for Horst's care and delivery of the last words. They invite him to join them.

When Horst enters the couple's world and notices the vacant seat in their midst, a secret dream grows in him. But the deeper he slips into the footsteps of the deceased, the more his stay turns into a bizarre nightmare.
