The conservative Jusek (55) lives as a single parent with his daughter Kasia (20) in a socially deprived area of Cologne.

Frustrated by the fact that his medical degree from his native Poland is not recognized, the unemployed man ekes out an existence by demanding conformity from people around him, but being inflexible himself. The only person Jusek loves is his daughter, and his greatest fear is losing her. His daughter falls in love with Said (25), who is studying medicine but comes from the same neighborhood and is of Arab origin.
