The young mother Lenda escapes from a toxic relationship. Through an unexpected encounter, she begins to imagine a world full of security and tenderness. But when even this illusion begins to crumble, Lenda must face her own fears and learn to trust in herself.

When young mother LENDA (29) comes home one evening from her job in a pet shop to her cramped two-room flat in Berlin, an argument breaks out between her and her boyfriend THORBEN (36). The once romantic relationship has long since become nothing but jealousy and manipulation. The only anchor point of the relationship is Lenda's daughter MARIANNA (6). Shortly after the quarrel, an old acquaintance appears in Lenda's life: MALU (33). This evokes memories of a tender approach. Malu lives in a spacious house on the edge of the forest with two partners and a cat. A few days later, when Marianna is almost accidentally injured during a quarrel, Lenda and her daughter flee their shared flat for the first time. At night, Lenda begins to write her own narrative to escape the pain. She imagines Malu's world, which seems to be carefree, harmonious and simple for Lenda. Shortly afterwards, Thorben apologises and asks Lenda to come back. But when she learns that Thorben is once again lying to her, the boundaries between Lenda's fiction and reality begin to blur further. Lenda imagines her and Marianna staying with Malu. Lenda thus gets to know a peaceful parallel world and finds herself more and more. But little by little, the harmonious illusion of Malu's world also begins to crumble. Disagreements arise about the newcomers and Lenda's daughter Marianna has trouble fitting in. Then, when Marianna seems to have disappeared during a forest fire, Lenda realises that in her attempt to find herself she has momentarily forgotten her daughter. Guilt overwhelms her and when neither Malu nor the others are willing to help her, Lenda has to admit to herself that she herself is responsible for her life and that of her daughter and has to make a decision.
