The most disastrous comeback of the year.
Synopsis
Moni Sonnenschein (62) used to be a star. Now she sings in hotel halls for promotional trip audiences. In the 80s, she was part of the iconic pop duo Die Sonnenscheins, together with her then husband Harry. But while he is still successfully touring the country with the old hits, Moni has long since left the limelight, her marriage and a system that degrades women to playback dolls in glittery miniskirts.
After the death of her long-time manager Rüdiger, Moni's already crumbling career is finally on the brink of collapse – until she meets Deniz (25): shrewd, overambitious and determined to make it to the top as a music manager.
Deniz sees Moni's comeback as his chance for a breakthrough; she needs gigs to avoid ending up on the street. Under false promises, the two enter into a dubious business relationship. But between hardware store gigs, studio sessions and generation clashes, Moni's comeback really takes off. And in the way she always wanted: authentic, live, without compromise.
But the bigger their stages become, the louder the past calls: her estranged daughter Franzi, the manipulative ex Harry with his copyright threats – and Deniz's brazen lie on which the comeback is built.
A dramedy series about second chances, unusual friendships and the power of staying true to yourself. With drama, glitter-glitter and wit. Because: a little fun is a must!
